For the 2020-21 service year, Kestrel Land Trust is seeking applications for a Youth Education/Community Engagement Coordinator (YEC/CEC) to be shared with Eagle Eye Institute, and a full-time Land Stewardship Coordinator.
The Youth Education/Community Engagement Coordinator will be a shared position between Kestrel and Eagle Eye Institute, serving on both collaborative projects as well as projects specific to each organization. The YEC/CEC will work with teens, kids, and adults through events and outdoor programs that connect people to nature and the land. This position with collaborate closely with other nonprofits like Care Center, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and area schools to create inspiring experiences on the land for urban youth in Holyoke, as well as other underserved youth in the Valley. There will also be opportunities to develop public events related to nature and the arts, history, and culture, and to work with volunteers to make these programs happen for the general public. The Land Stewardship Coordinator position involves a combination of solo fieldwork and volunteer engagement/coordination to strengthen regional capacity and manage conservation land. The tasks include outdoor field projects such as trail creation and upkeep, kestrel nest box maintenance, invasive species management, and monitoring KLT boundaries to maintain markers. Learn more.
TerraCorps is an innovative AmeriCorps national service program that prepares and mobilizes emerging leaders to help communities conserve and secure land for the health and well-being of people and nature. They do this by supporting AmeriCorps members who serve with nonprofit organizations across the Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island to tackle issues around land access, urban agriculture, and conservation. This year they are looking for 88 members to join the TerraCorps team!
Members will serve in full-time (38 hour/week), 11-month positions from August 31st, 2020- July 30th, 2021. These 1,700-hour AmeriCorps positions receive a living allowance and are eligible for health insurance coverage, childcare assistance, federal loan forbearance, an education award, and additional AmeriCorps benefits.
