For the 2019-20 service year, Kestrel Land Trust is seeking applications for a Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC) and Regional Collaboration/Urban Agriculture Coordinator (RCC/UAC)
The Community Engagement Coordinator will work with teens, kids, and adults through events and outdoor programs that connect people to nature and the land. This position with collaborate closely with other nonprofits like Eagle Eye Institute, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and area schools to create inspiring experiences on the land for urban youth in Holyoke, as well as other underserved youth in the Valley. There will also be opportunities to develop public events related to nature and the arts, history, and culture, and to work with volunteers to make these programs happen for the general public. The Regional Collaboration/Urban Agriculture Coordinator (RCC/UAC) position will focus on farmland conservation, and will help coordinate organizational partnerships and projects for the regional Forever Farmland Initiative. It will also assist underserved communities and populations in coordination with organizations such as CISA, All Farmers, and the Pioneer Valley Workers Center (PVWC) to broaden farmland access for local refugee and immigrant populations. TerraCorps, formerly MassLIFT-AmeriCorps, is an innovative national service program helping communities conserve and secure land for the health and well-being of people and nature. Members will carry out capacity building projects; educate or train individuals; recruit, train, manage, and support community volunteers engaged in land-based activities; and identify new individuals and groups to participate in education, recreation, or service opportunities centered around land access and conservation.
These 1,700 hour AmeriCorps positions receive a living allowance, education award, and additional AmeriCorps benefits. The 2019-2020 program will run from August 26, 2019 through July 31, 2020.
