Support Puffer’s Pond Conservation Area This Spring

Spring is a time for renewal, as plants and wildlife reemerge around the Valley. We are happy to let you know that the Friends of Puffer’s Pond—and the famous Pancake Breakfast—are reemerging this year too, to help take care of this special place we all love.
This time of year is critical to the important work of ensuring that Puffer’s Pond Conservation Area is safe and clean for people and wildlife. The network of trails in the Mill River Conservation Area, the beach areas, and the trails around Puffer’s Pond are all in need of seasonal upkeep, maintenance, and repairs. This work happens under the supervision of the Amherst Conservation Department, which hires caretakers for the summer and coordinates a corps of volunteers to care for the trails.

The Town’s budget continues to be limited for these types of services, which is why we need your help. As we have for nearly 30 years, we are asking friends, neighbors and everyone who enjoys the pond to support this annual effort.
Because the Friends of Puffer’s Pond is a small, informal group that cannot accept donations directly, they rely on Kestrel Land Trust, as their fiscal sponsor for this annual fundraising effort. Kestrel has partnered with the Town of Amherst to help create and care for conservation areas like Puffer’s Pond for more than 50 years. Your gift will go to the Town of Amherst to fund the upkeep of Puffer’s Pond Conservation Area.
Online tax deductible donations can be made below. If you prefer to mail a check, it MUST be made out to Kestrel Land Trust, with “Puffers’ Pond Fund” in the memo line, and mailed to Kestrel Land Trust, PO Box 1016, Amherst, MA 01004.
Thank you for helping to ensure this uniquely beautiful place in our community remains a welcoming and enjoyable natural area for all to enjoy.
