Kari came to the Valley from upstate New York in 2010 to serve as Kestrel’s first Regional Conservationist through the AmeriCorps MassLIFT Program (TerraCorps). At the end of her year of service, she joined Kestrel as one of its first full-time staff to coordinate special programs and community engagement projects, and now directs Kestrel’s communications and engagement program. Kari has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Psychology and then received her Masters degree in Resource Management & Conservation from Antioch University, after 10 years working in the commercial publishing industry. She lives with her husband in Hadley and loves exploring the Mount Holyoke Range, paddling on the Swift River, and birding in the extraordinary Silvio Conte National Wildlife Refuge.
