Joel is a conservation and land use lawyer and community planner who has been active in the land conservation world for over 30 years. He co-founded and served as Executive Director of the Dutchess Land Conservancy in New York State in 1985, and has advised many land trusts and landowners over the years. He has served on the boards of the Valley Land Fund and the Conway School of Landscape Design, which he chaired for four years. Joel applies his professional skills and experience in land conservation, law, planning, and non-profit organizations to help Kestrel advance its work protecting land. He is semi-retired and maintains a Northampton-based consulting and law practice in land conservation and municipal land use regulation.
