Jeremy Barker Plotkin is one of the co-owners of Simple Gifts Farm in Amherst, MA, located on land owned and conserved as Forever Farmland by the North Amherst Community Farm. Jeremy and his team run the farm as an ecological unit integrating chickens, cows, and sometimes pigs with the primary crop of organic vegetables, and connects the community with its food supply through a year-round Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program and farm store. Jeremy has farmed since 1999, and lived in North Amherst since 2006. He has served on the board of the Organic Farming Research Foundation, and of the Amherst Farmers Market and the Amherst Winter Farmers Market. He brings knowledge of farming operations, organizations, and alternative land tenure arrangements to Kestrel. He has an M.S. in Plant, Soil and Environmental Science from the University of Maine.
