Winter Solstice Mindfulness Walk
December 21, 2023 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Could you use a bit more connection with the natural world during this dark and busy season of year? Join us on Thursday, December 21, 5:30 – 7:00 pm for an enchanting evening to quietly celebrate the winter solstice at Silvio O. Conte National Fish & Wildlife Refuge in Hadley. Let the beauty and wonder of nature provide some inspiration and solace.
Solstice means “sun stands still,” so we will pause to enjoy the stillness of this seasonal turning point, the stillness of the natural world, and our own inner stillness through the practice of mindfulness.
On the longest night of the year, Marilyn Castriotta, Community Engagement Manager, will lead this meditative woods walk along the Fort River Trail. This is a 1.1-mile universally accessible loop that meanders through 260 acres of diverse habitat and includes elevated boardwalks and scenic viewing decks with benches.
This event is co-sponsored by the Silvio O. Conte National Fish & Wildlife Refuge.
Registration is required with sliding scale donation.
“For among these winters there is one so endlessly winter that only by wintering through it will your heart survive.” – Rainer Maria Rilke
