The Marvels of Mushrooms
September 23 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Mushrooms are a fascinating part of the natural world and with knowledge, fungi can be a source of abundant, delicious, nutritious, and free food.
Join us on Saturday, September 23, 10:00 AM – noon for a mushroom talk and foray with naturalist, educator, and certified organic land care professional John Root. John will begin by sharing an indoor introductory presentation featuring the amazing diversity of our native fungi, followed by a mushroom walk outdoors in the vicinity of Kestrel’s headquarters.
Habitats, seasons of availability, and identifying characteristics of both edible and poisonous mushrooms of the northeast will be discussed. Guidelines for safe and responsible foraging, descriptions of select species, and references for further study will be offered to participants.
Space is limited to 20 participants, and registration is required.
