If the beauty of the Valley inspires you, or you’re a lover of art, join us for an exclusive Art Hike on Sunday, June 25 from 9:30 am – 11 am. Renowned plein air artist Lewis Bryden will give you a guided tour of the history of artists on the land as you hike to the Summit House on the Mount Holyoke Range. When you reach the Summit, you’ll observe local artists who will be painting during our Open Air Studio Paint Out. Lewis will guide you among the artists, where you’ll hear about their techniques and inspiration, and view their artistic creations in real time.
In the afternoon from 2 – 5 pm, the public is invited to join artist Robert Masla back at the R. Michelson Galleries for a fascinating demonstration of revolutionary new materials and techniques. See more about this event here.

Lewis Bryden attended college at Yale where he studied architecture; eventually earning a master’s degree from Harvard and working in the field for several years before pursuing a career in painting. Raised in south Florida, Bryden moved to New York City in 1973, where he has lived for 37 years. He spent 14 years living and painting in Brooklyn. In 1988, Bryden purchased a house, which resides on the banks of the Connecticut River in the Pioneer Valley. He often paints on site, in a houseboat/studio named Float des Artistes.
