New Year’s Day Hike to Rattlesnake Knob

January 1 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Group hiking in winter on woodland trail

Start the New Year off on the right foot by getting outdoors, enjoying nature, and spending time with others. This year, Kestrel is partnering with Adventure East to host our annual New Year’s Day Walks on Monday, January 1, from 1:00-3:00 pm. This is a great opportunity to meet and connect with friends old and new, while learning something about the land you love!

Adventure EastOn the east side of the Connecticut River, join us for a group hike to Rattlesnake Knob in Amherst. Naturalist Garth Shaneyfelt will lead us on a moderately challenging 2-hour hike with elevation gain where a view awaits on the eastern section of the Mount Holyoke Range. This out-and-back along the yellow-blazed trail will begin at Sweet Alice Conservation Area, which is owned by the Town of Amherst but was acquired with assistance from Kestrel Land Trust in 2017.

Depending on conditions, trekking poles, micro spikes, and snowshoes will be available for this event through Adventure East for all who would like to use them.

Is Amherst too far from home? Or are you looking for an easier walk? Join us instead for our New Year’s Day walk in Westhampton.

Space is limited and registration is required.
