Fascinating Fungi: The Mushrooms of the Forest with Marty Klein
August 4, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

As you walk through a shady forest, it’s easy to focus on the trees but a forest is made up of so much more. Fungi, including mushrooms, are the unsung heroes of the forest, often playing a critical role in the health of the trees.
On Saturday, August 4 from 10 am to 12 pm, join Easthampton-based conservationist, educator, artist-naturalist and wild mushroom expert Marty Klein, to learn about the secret lives of mushrooms. Marty has been interested in fungal fruits for more than four decades. Over the years, he has led many walks and given more than two dozen presentations on the subject throughout the region. On this foray, we will explore and discover the various mushrooms we can find growing in Kestrel’s Greenberg Forest in Westhampton. You will learn tips on mushroom identification, edibility, habitat, ecology, and more.
