Guided Hike to the Eyrie House Ruins

November 18, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 11:30 am

Eyrie House Ruins by Paul Cooper

Have you ever wondered about the structures that graced the summit of Mount Nonotuck, the most northerly peak on the Mt. Tom Range? Join us on Saturday, November 18th, 9:00-11:30 AM for a fascinating hike to the site where the former summit house was perched before it burned to the ground in a 1901 fire. Kestrel Land Trust Board Member Peter Curtis will lead a guided hike to explore the extensive Eyrie House ruins which have captured the imagination of all who have visited them.

This will be a moderately strenuous 4-mile loop hike that offers views of the iconic Connecticut River Oxbow and Berkshire Hills. We will begin at the pavilion across from the Mt. Tom Stone Visitor Center. IMPORTANT: Participants must be able to climb steep slopes and navigate uneven ground.

Proceeds from the event will support Kestrel Land Trust’s Mount Tom Fund, dedicated to enhancing public access on the Mount Tom Range, which supported the creation of the Mt. Tom North Trailhead Park in Easthampton as well as Kestrel’s partnership with the City of Holyoke to restore nearby Anniversary Hill Park.

Space is limited and registration is required with a sliding-scale fee. Families and children welcome!

There is no rain date for this program.
