Hiking for Health Series: Mount Orient
May 23, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Are you going a little stir crazy after a year of stay-at-home and social distancing? Here’s a chance to get out for a vigorous hike on a trail that may be new to you. Join us in a small group for an energetic hike on a local peak, led by a member of the Kestrel Land Trust staff.
As we resume in-person events, we are offering a new Hiking for Health series, with two hikes this spring and two in the fall. These 3-hour treks will get your blood flowing and provide “peak” experiences in conservation areas around the Valley that Kestrel has helped conserve.
The first hike will be a 5-mile up-and-back to Mount Orient (elevation is 955 feet) in Pelham on Sunday, May 23, from 9am – noon, led by Kestrel’s Executive Director, Kristin DeBoer. Although the summit is wooded, a lower, south-facing ledge of provides views of the Mount Holyoke Range and the Valley.
Participants must be able to climb steep slopes and navigate uneven ground.
Space is limited to 10 participants and registration is required. This program is free, though donations are appreciated!
