Community Trail Day & Nature Walk at the New Greenberg Family Conservation Area
July 8, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 3:30 pm

Come join us for Kestrel’s most ambitious trail day yet–and to preview our new 65-acre Westhampton nature retreat, the Greenberg Family Conservation Area. This lovely forest, through which runs Sodom Brook, has a user-made trail system that needs to be improved and formalized. We’re mounting a “Big Day” of trail work, with several Kestrel-led crews taking on tasks throughout the property—including cutting new trail, re-routing existing footpaths, and creating switchbacks.
On Saturday, July 8 (rain date: Sunday, July 16), we’re looking for a big turnout of folks who want to make a significant impact! Trail work will take place in the morning from 9:00-12:30. Then you are welcome to stay for a free picnic lunch onsite and explore the property’s woods with its wildlife, “fairy trees,” and gorgeous shady brook.
At 2 p.m, naturalist Laurie Sanders will lead a Natural History tour of the property. This walk is open to the public as well as volunteers. Pre-registration is required for parking and meeting place details.
This is a family-friendly event, but please ensure adult supervision for children.
