Family Farm Days at the Food Bank Farm

April 20 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

For farmers in our Connecticut River Valley, spring marks the beginning of the growing season. Join us for a Family Farm Day program at the Food Bank Farm in Hadley to learn about our precious natural resources through hands-on activities and exploration. Kestrel partnered with the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts to create this farm in 2020 as an investment in local farmland for farmers to strengthen our local food economy while also providing a reliable source of healthy organic food for those who need it most. It is one of only a few in the entire country.

Community members with (or without) children are invited to the farm to assist with light farm tasks and to learn about regenerative farming practices, as well as The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts’ commitment to community food security. Participants are encouraged to wear clothes that can get dirty! In addition to the farm lesson and activity, there will be an optional guided trail walk on the forested Podick-Cole-Szala Conservation Area, which is adjacent to the farm.

You’re welcome to attend one program or more on these four Saturdays from 10:00 am to noon:

  • April 20
  • May 4
  • June 15
  • July 20

This event is FREE but registration is required. To register, please email Amanda Reynolds at stating which day you would like to attend, the number of people you are signing up, the ages of any children who will be attending, and that you heard about this event from Kestrel Land Trust.
