Special Event: Canoeing on Lake Warner
August 5 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Paddling is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and connect with nature in a low-impact way that offers a unique perspective you can’t get from the shore. It also offers many physical, mental, and emotional health benefits. Kestrel is pleased to offer a special two-hour canoe paddling experience on Lake Warner guided by our friends at Adventure East on Saturday, August 5, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. This will be a great event if you’re new to paddling or don’t have a boat of your own!
This 70-acre historic millpond is more than 100 years old, and surrounded by tranquil farmland, woodlands and wetlands in the heart of North Hadley. The natural beauty of the lake and the winding water trail through the lily pads on the water’s edge make for a meditative experience. You’re likely to see a variety of birds and ducks—perhaps a great blue heron wading in the grass—while enjoying a peaceful, scenic morning canoeing from the boat launch north towards the Mill River inlet.
Thanks to our partners at Adventure East, this program includes:
- Canoeing guide
- Canoe, paddle, life jacket (PFD)
- Drybags (for storage of small personal items)
- Basic paddling instruction for those new to paddling
Space is limited to 20 participants. Registration is required with sliding-scale donation.
