Anne G. Cann, Amherst

For a number of years, the Orchard Arboretum, opposite Applewood, has been collaborating with the Kestrel Land Trust to bring educational programs to the community. One of my favorites was the Story Walk in which the pages of a children’s story were mounted on podiums in sequence for visitors to follow. The Story Walk display was left in place for 6 months. Many families and even adults enjoyed reading the story and hopefully taking its message to heart. It took the cooperation of many volunteers to create this program. It is my hope that soon it will be possible to get back to having such collaborative activities in the Orchard Arboretum again. The Kestrel Land Trust has made many such programs possible.
