Neighborhood Initiatives:

The fate of lessor known landsan old field, a small brook—often lies in the hands of small groups of neighbors who know and care about their collective backyards. Kestrel Trust sometimes agree to act as the non-profit fiscal sponsor and advisor to ad-hoc community groups who wish to independently raise funds to finance the conservation and stewardship of special natural areas like this.

In the past special initiatives have included such projects as North Amherst Community Farm, which is now a CSA. Kestrel also sponsors Friends of Puffers Pond, which holds an annual pancake breakfast in June to raise funds to help with the maintenance and conservation of this important conservation area.

Contact The Kestrel Trust if you would like to organize a grassroots effort to save a special place in your backyard.
