Donate to Kestrel

Each year, thousands of residents across the Valley make an investment in Kestrel Land Trust to help us protect the local landscape. Every tax-deductible dollar you donate allows Kestrel to leverage 10x that amount local, state and federal funding for land conservation projects.

Each year Kestrel needs to raise $200,000 from individuals like you through donations of $10-$100-$1,000 or more. We use this funding to orchestrate conservation projects and obtain public funding to complete the purchase of land or conservation restrictions. In 2010, Kestrel raised more than $4.4 Million in public and private funding to permanently protect 614 acres of forestland, farmland, and wetlands.

How Expensive Is Land Conservation?

Here is a ballpark estimate of how much it costs to protect one acre in the Valley:

1 acre of easily developable farmland: $20,000
1 acre of developable forestland: $5,000
1 acre of backland (no road frontage): $1,000
1 acre of wetland: $500

Thank you for your contribution.
