Alexandra Dawson is known, respected and loved for a long career of distinguished and multi-faceted service on behalf of many conservation organizations throughout New England, including the Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissions, The Kestrel Trust, the Hadley Conservation Commission, the Sierra Club, and the Conservation Law Foundation.

She obtained her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1966 and is a professor emerita at Antioch New England Graduate School.  A specialist in state land use and environmental law, she is widely published.  Her works include Land Use Planning and the Law (1986).  In 2006 the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency presented her with its Environmental Merit Award for Lifetime Achievement.
